[0 YoE, Cardiac Patient Care Assistant, Medical Device Sales, United States]

I have close to 7 years of combined clinical experience in the Emergency Department as a Scribe and also as a Patient Care Assistant on a high acuity cardiac unit at a large health system in San Diego. I have a Bachelors degree in Public Health and I am actively trying to break into the medical device sales space. I was previously applying to nursing school but after being accepted, I decided that wasn’t what aligned with my long term career goals. I decided on medical device sales because I enjoy helping people and working in healthcare, and I wanted a career that would allow me to do that without the burn out that comes with working at the bedside.

I am trying to start out in a Clinical Specialist role or as an Associate Sales Rep to gain experience in the field then eventually move up. I am looking for feedback on my resume, specifically the skills section and how I can improve that to better reflect my job descriptions. I think I am lacking keywords specific to these roles I am applying for. I feel that my job descriptions don’t entirely convey how my bedside experience makes me a great candidate for these roles, but I don’t know how to fix that, so I am seeking advice here. I have plenty of leadership experience as well in my current role with training staff and I am very involved in hospital initiatives outside of my normal duties, but I don’t’t know how to translate that into how that would help me in this field.

I landed an Interview with Stryker (didn’t make it to the second round) and Johnson & Johnson (still waiting to hear back about second interview) with this current version of my resume, but I feel that my resume could use some improvement to set my application apart from others applying for the same roles. So far I have applied for over 60 positions and those two companies mentioned are the only ones that have offered me interviews. I feel that my resume has more potential and that as a candidate, my resume doesn’t set me apart from other applicants and that is what is preventing me from getting offered more interviews. I am applying in San Diego, CA for reference.

Thank you to those who have taken the time to read this. This will be my first professional job post grad so I appreciate any feedback since I am new to making a resume!
