I want to study abroad but I have no idea how or if I’m even eligible
Hi everyone,
I’m a 17-year-old student from a small island in the Caribbean, and I’m currently trying to figure out how to apply to colleges abroad. My school doesn’t have counselors or anyone who can guide us through the process, and most of my classmates don’t plan to attend college, so I’m essentially navigating this alone.
I’m looking for full-ride scholarships (including tuition + housing) because my financial situation doesn’t allow me to realistically self-fund studying abroad or even locally to be honest)
Academically my profile includes:
Strong academic performance
Multiple awards in Biology (district, regional, national, and international levels)
Member of my country’s Special Talent in Biology program
Founder of my school’s first Biology Club
Founder of a nonprofit organization supported by my local city hall
Studying music (vocal arts, piano) since age 9
Member of a youth orchestra program
Former member of my city’s children’s vocal group
English teacher since age 15
Recipient of a STEM scholarship through Coursera (Local program)
Preselected twice for national biology olympiad teams (OIAB and OLCECAB)
I feel like I have a strong profile, but I’m honestly not sure how competitive it is for full scholarships abroad or what my realistic options are (US, Europe, or anywhere else is fine, I just want to study).
If anyone has advice on:
Universities that offer full rides to international students
Scholarships I should look into
How competitive my profile is
What should I do in this upcoming year
Or the exact steps I should take from here
I would really appreciate it. 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you in advance!
