Sad to see even former leftie critics of IdPol go full Culture Warrior, there are just fewer and fewer left-materialist political pundits
Saw a Secular Talk video (link) that was posted today where he and his guest, a streamer and evangelical-turned-progressive called Young Don, started talking about Nick Fuentes turning on Trump. Obviously Fuentes is just a racist, but the conversation quickly became about how white privilege is ending because of changing demographics, how whites are going to lose certain privileges, how everything whites have is from racism, how Trump won from white anxiety and how being equal fees like oppression when you're used to privilege. They likened giving up white privilege to giving up the house you and your family lived in because your father stole the house, which might be the worst political framing I've ever seen in my life.
As usual with the culture warriors on the left, there is some truth to these arguments. But I could not conceive of a more sure way to maintain the relevance of the far-right than to literally say minorities will make life worse of whites and whites basically deserve it for being "privileged" while the empire is declining under a capitalist oligarchy. Or to offend people who are increasingly materially worse off than before by saying they're just experiencing "equality". Or to drag the conversation into the sins and virtues of "white people" in what would be an eternal back and forth with white nationalists over what white people deserve for what they "stole" vs what they "created". Or most idiotically of all, putting the ball in the court of the political Right who essentially get to define who is "White" and fighting on those terms, as though the Right couldn't just snap their fingers and consider most Latinos "White" if push came to shove on battles over race demographics and voting patterns.
Keep in mind this is after Kulinski was explicitly saying shortly after Trump was elected that no one should practice identity politics. It's literally a 180 from old Kyle (Link). At this point the relationship between American Progressivism and left materialists is akin to Lucy with the Football and Charlie Brown.
