Working the 4th weekend

Thursday evening before the 4th weekend a client decides they want a document turned by Monday. I canceled plans I was looking forward to and spent the holiday weekend working. Will they look at it Monday? Probably not. Do they need it this week at all? Probably not.

I don’t hate the job most of the time, but I find it hard to look forward to things when I know there’s a 50% chance I’ll have to cancel at a moments notice. I know I’m paid for availability but this one stings more for some reason.

Junior Associate Looking For Savings Target Before Leaving

Good morning, all! Junior associate here trying to improve my financial literacy. I have started to experience how, every year, it gets more difficult to leave big law when you are staring down a substantial raise. I would eventually like to go in house, and I'd love to set a financially prudent savings goal to know when it's time to leave/hold myself accountable to make a change when I am financially prepared to do so. What is a good goal before going in house? No debt obviously, and then what? 200k? 300k? Assume a 150k-200k in house role.
