Part 3: My experience with ethos has been chaotic but amazing

Part 3: My experience with ethos has been chaotic but amazing

Hello again! Just another update, as promised.

As of today, I have another $8,455 headed my way from ethos. I logged over 100 hours since September 12th. Up until today, I had easily 100 hours that was not approved. All were approved today, as promised by the Ethos team.

I started the project on August 21st. That puts me at about 6.5 weeks as of today (a lot of posts saying they are offboarded around 6-8 weeks). I am concerned that I may be headed in that direction.

On October 1st, right around my 6 week timeframe, I received my first Quality issue for one of my tasks. It was related to my level of detail and justifying my ranking. I am fairly detailed in all my responses, but the one that was flagged I definitely slacked off in. So I fixed it and good to go.

Well, over the past 9 days, almost every single one of my tasks I've completed has been flagged for a quality issue. A lot of the reviews are labeled as "minor" rather than "general". These are the only two I've seen so far and have to assume that "minor" isn't that bad. I also get good feedback and good responses when I make a comment to the reviewer in the task.

Two outcomes I see happening:

  1. The Ethos team finally got around to catching up on reviews, and now I'm getting great feedback to improve going forward. I'm not being offboarded and my work actually needs improvement. I do feel like this is the most likely (hopefully).
  2. I will eventually be offboarded for quality issues. It's certainly possible, but I am getting good feedback responses.

Either way, Ethos has been a great source of income for me. I've put a lot of time into my work, and hopefully that keeps me on the project. Ethos has been amazing all around.

Notes for new people:

  1. Do not copy and paste ANYTHING into the response boxes. This is automatically flagged as AI.

Edit: this has been confirmed not true by multiple people in the comments. That was my misunderstanding. But sounds like it’s not an issue.

  1. Do the workshops and practice trainings. They help significantly.
  2. Any questions, feel free to drop them below. Please note I don't work for Ethos, so I don't have all the answers. But I can help based on my experience.

Part 2: My experience with ethos has been chaotic but amazing

Hello Again! I'm back for an update.

It's been 6 weeks since I started the Artifacts project and still going strong. I currently have $1100 approved for payment in the next payout cycle (October 14th), with another 60 hours logged (about $4200).

Since my last post, I've attended multiple Ethos workshops. I HIGHLY recommend attending these if you've been accepted. These have been super helpful in answering basic questions. If you try to ask a simple question in the Slack Support group, you'll get an AI response and most of the time it will not answer your question. Attend the office hours and workshops, it will help.

Like I said, I have 60 hours of logged work. Only about 10 hours of this work has been reviewed. This was the exact same thing that happened my first month. All my work was approved by the time payday came and I was paid in full.

I see a lot of posts about people being offboarded around 6 weeks. Well, I'm on 6 weeks. I will keep you all updated if I'm offboarded. I'm not fully sure how the process works, but so far, no signs of offboarding.

Also, I've done another 3 interviews with the AI chatbot and have been matched with 4 new opportunities. I am currently in Review for all 4 opportunities. I'm not sure if I can do two projects at once, but I'll update if I'm accepted to any of these other 4.

Some key things to note that I've learned along the way:

  1. Do not copy and paste your responses in the axes. This could flag the AI system as AI work. Type your responses in full.
  2. Attend the workshops! You get paid one workshop per week that you attend. But they are extremely helpful. So many of my questions were answered in the workshops.
  3. Do not stress if your work is "In Review". about 90% of my work is still in review. This is the same thing that happened after my first month. Like I said, I was paid in full after my first month.

If you have any questions, feel free to drop them below. I'll answer what I can with my 6 weeks of experience.

My experience with ethos has been chaotic but awesome

I signed up for Ethos back in May. I thought it was a fake site because I couldn't find any job postings. I left the page and didn't think anything of it. In August, I saw another Ethos post on LinkedIn and figured I'd try completing some interviews. I ended up completing five interviews with the AI. A couple days letter I get an email saying I've been accepted to a project.

The Slack is confusing to start. The training was minimal and confusing to get started. However, all the screeners ended up being paid. They also offered multiple paid trainings and webinars.

Is it confusing? Yes. Did they actually pay? YES! I received just under $5k after one month of work. This month I'm on track for about the same.

Once you get the hang of it, it gets a lot easier. However, getting started is not simple or straight forward.

If anyone has any questions or anything, drop them below! I can answer with my minimal experience so far.
