(Black) SONY MDS‑JB980 boxed and unused… Update

  • Won it for £365 all in.
  • Arrived Tuesday, opened up the box and all accessories are there.
  • Not as the original listing, silver unit!
  • Condition is absolutely ridiculous.
  • Disc got stuck (C13). I “assisted” eject while powered on.
  • Waited for a belt to arrive that u/ThEGr33kXII said to order immediately (thank you!!, saved me a lot of panic with your advice). Also u/wociscz and u/WheelieBear-Paul!
  • Lid off. College tweezers.
  • Reassembled.
  • Powered on…
  • WORKING LIKE A FUCKING DREAM.
  • £365 + £5.95 + blind luck

SONY MDS‑JB980 boxed and unused…

I’m waiting to receive this in the post, this was sold by a charity shop with the description notes - opened to check contents but product unused. No other pictures than the above.

My current deck is the Sony MDS-JE530 which I bought freshly serviced for £225 and is absolutely mint with the remote. Absolutely perfect as a player but I came across this listing and thought I had to take a punt. I won it for £360 which I was pretty surprised at!

I’m just hoping it’ll be as expected when it arrives, as it’s sold by a charity I’m hoping this increases the odds.

I need to sort the garden out after building works and the concrete slab this is on needs to be eventually smashed up and levelled.

I didn't want to attach to fresh render so I used 4 x bolt down post shoes and some 3 x 3 posts I already had to create a frame, I've left about an inch gap between the wall.

I did this solo so created frames in situ, took off and meshed for the sides and the top.

Staple gunned in the galvanised mesh and then screwed into the posts. Lots of galvanised corner brackets, I probably overbuilt but wanted it secure. I'll re-use the materials when I sort the garden out.

I might create a tunnel into a larger enclosure or a run. She's a house cat (just turned 1 today, May the fourth be with you!) and I think she's really satisfied with it. She's out there for a lot of the day when I'm home. I placed some perspex I had kicking about on the top when it rained the other day, I might completely cover the roof in a sheet so she can use it in all weather.

Decking boards for the floor and shelves that I've added and repositioned based on how I've seen her use it.

Some old stone to cover the foot posts for now. It leads from a downstairs bathroom window which means I can shut that door and have the doors open downstairs in the heat.

Endgame is to cat proof the garden so this is phase one. It's been really helpful seeing other builds on here!
