Booty taking a toll on the Bay

I bought a Bay kayak early this year and even have the thicker gel seat cushion but omg… my booty hurts so bad after like 3 hours in the kayak. And I got some cheeks on me!

I’ve paddled on cheaper sit-on-top and sit-in kayaks for hours on end, as well as a sea kayak which I paddled 6-13 hours per day for 4 days straight. My ass has never hurt this bad.

Is anyone able to kayak longer duration or kayak multiple-day trips on these? I think my ass would fall off completely if I tried. What’s your setup seat-wise?

For such an expensive boat, I’m really surprised it’s Oru’s “plan a” as their design. As things stand now, I love the convenience of my folding kayak but I would NEVER recommend this literal pain-in-the-ass kayak.

Chicago’s most beautiful bird?

I was kayaking down the Chicago River North Branch on a very dim morning. This glowing highlighter was bounding toward me as if it was from a Miyazaki film. It landing right next to me 🥰

Baby Belted Kingfisher calls as they develop!

Took this in the city of Chicago! I hope you like witnessing these little moments! I don’t think I’ve ever seen/heard Kingfisher development like this before.

Just giving some info because of the sensitivity of nest footage. The nest videos are from a remote camera tied to a branch overhanging the river bank. I slowly got it into place over a month to ensure safety of the birds flying in and to minimize disturbance. The non-nest footage was taken from my camo-covered kayak using my super-telephoto with extender.
