Solar battery massive issues- sucks power from grid even when charged

Not a sparky so hope I'm using the right technical terms here

Installed an offgrid Sonnen Eco battery in 2024 before the subsidies were a thing- chose not to go the VPP route

Smart meter installed but battery install not configured to ever feed back into the grid until the battery is full ( this was my choice as install was before the subsidy, subsidy does require VPP )

Since at least October 2025 I've noticed it's really erratic. Sonnen App reports serious inconsistencies, and sometimes improbable displays ( sucking power from the grid but reporting 0 power draw to either house or battery ) See pic above

Often the house power/ lights flicker badly. Had that checked by Essential Energy- they did a serious job of logging at the board, and at various points before and after the pole then the transformer ( there had been bad issues once and transformer had been replaced ). Essential Energy techie who I trust sent me the data and said the faulty signal is being sent into the grid, not being received from it

Stupid battery unit is also pulling power from the grid at peak times when the battery is well above my 10% reserve level. App can read 80% battery charge and decide not to use it, and suck from the grid

Damn thing is costing me money when it should be saving it. And the flickering is making me concerned for all my circuit boards

I've emailed Sonnen Australia often, including screenshots and the downloaded data. Gotten fast replies, but nothing fixes the problem. Unit is out of warranty ofc

NSW Electricity Ombudsman doesn't handle ongoing issues wrt standalone battery manufacturers and have suggested I contact NSW Fair Trading, this is in progress, but I don't like my chances this far out after install

Anyone else having similar issues with offgrid/ Sonnen in NSW?
