Colonel Maitland leads the East India Company forces during the Siege of Bharatpur(1805)

The Siege of Bharatpur was the fought from 2 January to 22 February 1805.The impressive fortress belonged to the Jat Rulers of Bharatpur.During the Second Anglo Maratha War the Maratha chieftain Yashwant Rao Holkar Allied with the Jat Ruler Ranjit Singh to fight the British forces of General Lake.The siege ended in failure with around 3,000 British casualties.The fort was captured in 1826.
