Made the mistake of putting my finances into Reddit to seek empathy and compassion. Apparently my situation is insane (it is), but was torn down with insults.

One thing I always notice with Reddit finance in general is that if the car payment is expensive, to sell the car.

I have a car that is 728/month. My income is about 4k/month after taxes. But I have a ton of other bills.

Say I sold my car, and it’s worth 28k private sale, but I owe 35k on it. I’ll need to come up with that negative equity, then money to “buy a beater car” and hope it is somewhat reliable. If I had money for this, I would rather just keep paying off my car lol.

My plan was to always refinance it once my credit is better, and dump far more into it to pay off as early as possible. Plus, we use the 4x4 capabilities often. I plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off. I do not care about its value.

What am I missing here?

EDIT: Alright I hear you all loud and clear. I’m an idiot that made poor choices and continue to justify my spending. My life is horrendous and I’m a bad person.

Reddit won’t be happy unless I buy a beater car with money I don’t have. Spend more money on a less reliable car that won’t allow us any small enjoyment in life. I sold every other “fun” thing. “bUt yOu arE MaKinG eXcUses.” I am. Because it’s reality and why I have what I have.

Substance users get more sympathy.
