Which Elden ring ending is most in line with leftist principles?
Basically this is my conundrum. Ranni's ending seems to be kind of cannon, kind of similar to the age of dark endings from dark souls. She is often seen as a revolutionary, she wants to bring about a completely new order unlike anything that has been here before, restore free will and cool stuff like that.
However. Isn't this a little suspicious - the "anyone can do what they want" ending being championed by such a powerful entity as ranni, who has also been involved in some shady shit. Just asking : would an era of "free will without interference" benefit all the denizens of the lands between or just the few of the most powerful? But it's just an idea, maybe she's cool idk - I trust her and she seems legit, however i have been imagining the age of stars as something of a revolution but sometimes couldn't help but feel it sounds a little "libertarian".
Which brings me to the goldmask ending. It seems bad since he is a religious cleric who is part of the golden order who I do NOT like, as they are colonialist and imperialist. However what gives him credibility in my eyes is that he is disavowed by the orthodox religious fanatic Corhyn. Goldmask seems to be doing his own thing trying to actually study and understand what's wrong with the status quo and then gives you the rune to fix it. Now we could discuss his role in the golden order - is he a guy living in solitude just studying? Is he like a high ranking figure in the golden order? Idk. But goldmask doesn't want to abolish the order (state power) altogether. He wants to fix what's wrong so the denizens of the lands between aren't victim to constant meddling of the gods.
So I'm confused - I'd appreciate your takes on this, I like ranni and her undeniably revolutionary approach, however I can't help but feel that goldmask's "keep the state but prevent the powerful from meddling" might be more leftist than Ranni's "everyone including the most powerful can do what they want".
As per the other endings.
Feel free to discuss the dung eater if you want - I've seen people argue over whether the curse he gives everyone is actually bad a hurtful or if everyone just becomes omen, which would just eliminate racism against the omen I guess. I don't think the dung eaters ending even comes close to good or socialist, but if anyone has a cool hot take feel free.
Frenzied flame is out of the equation entirely.
I don't really know what to make of Fia's ending so looking forward to your ideas.
So my questions are:
Is Ranni's or Goldmask's ending more socialist?
How do you understand the impact of Fia's ending on the world?
Do you have some fun dung eater apologia to spew? If you do, please do so.
