How often do you ACTUALLY wash your CPAP hose?
I’ve been reading a ton of CPAP discussions lately and I’m surprised by how divided people are on hose cleaning.
Official guidance usually says to wash tubing weekly with soap and water and let it fully dry.
But a lot of long-term CPAP users online seem to say: - they rarely wash the hose -or almost never wash it because it only carries filtered air + distilled water
A few common themes I noticed:
- Many people focus more on keeping things DRY than constantly sanitized.
- Some think frequent washing creates moisture problems or possible mold risk if the hose doesn’t dry properly.
- A lot of users seem to clean the mask cushion regularly but clean the hose much less often.
- Others still strongly believe weekly cleaning is important for hygiene and odor prevention
So now I’m curious what the real-world habits actually are.
