How do I set some downloads to download to a different drive; or, how do I move all active torrent downloads to a different drive?
Hi everyone,
I was hoping some of you might be able to help me with a problem I'm having. I'm not very computer literate, but I've been able to figure out torrenting enough to use public search engines to find and download most of what I've been looking for. I download the files to my laptop and then transfer them to a DAS I have set up with some larger HDDs. My current issue is that my laptop SSD is 1TB in size with only about 300GB of free space. A few of the torrents I'm looking to download are 1-2TB in size and won't fit on my laptop SSD. I could try to download those torrents in sequential order and then transfer each file to my SSD as it downloads, but that would be extra work and not ideal.
I was hoping someone might be able to help with two questions:
How can I set an individual torrent to download to my external SSD while the rest of the torrents continue to download to my laptop? Both the temp download file and the finished file would have to download to the external SSD.
If I wanted to just set the external SSD as the drive to host all of the temp and finished downloads, how can I move the 100+ torrents I currently have in qBittorrent that are in various states of download on my laptop to the external SSD and resume their downloads to that drive?
I tried looking for these answers on this sub and with Google, but everything I found and tried hasn't worked. I found posts that said I should create a category and set the download folder for that category as the external drive and then assign individual torrents to that category. I'm not sure if I did it wrong, but that didn't work for me. I also found a post that says you can right click a torrent and "Set Location" for another drive, but this only worked to move the completed download to the external drive while the temp file stayed on the laptop until it was finished downloading.
I'm using qBittorent v4.3.6 on Windows 11 over a VPN. Any and all help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
