Aftermarket handlebar stem options
Hi, I recently bought a grizle 7 and talked to a friend at cane creek about upgrading my stem to their gravel setup. They informed me that canyon uses a proprietary 1 1/4’ fork tube and their components will not fit the industry standard 1 1/8’ tube🤦♂️🤦♀️🤦 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏽🤦🏽♂️my question is has anyone used aftermarket handlebar stems successfully? I see that hope offers a stem designed for 31.4 mm which is very close to 1 1/4’ do you think this stem will work without any issues?this is unfortunate because I live in Asheville and wanted to rock a little local flare in my amazing and beautiful new bike. I will live. I also understand why canyon went with proprietary cockpits for aero and seamless integration but it sure would be sick to use cane creek’s gravel fork and stem for those bumpy North Carolina gravel bombs.
