Permanent Deacons: What's Your Experience?

I'm not sure if this subreddit also caters for permanent deacons, but I'm in the long and early stages of discerning the permanent diaconate (I am married). I'm not asking for specific, tailored vocational advice, but I don't have any permanent deacons around my area so I'd like to ask:

What's your experience like, generally speaking? How do you managing the competing interests of family, work, and vocation? Do you have any regrets? What helped you make your decision (in other words, how did you know God was calling you?). Feel free to answer any question that I've not asked.

Thank you.

Is 13.5% an insane yield?

I am relatively new to investing, and so far I’ve just been focused on growth. I invested in this ETF (ACDC) simply because I thought there’d be future growth, but was shocked at much big of a dividend that I got. I looked at the big players and it’s all less than 1%.

Is 13.5% insane?

How easy it is to get into traffic control?

Currently white collar manager. Have signed up for the coppers, but that’s going to be a 9 month journey. Now that I’m leaving my field and don’t care about career progression, traffic control looks like I could make more in this time waiting period than I could at my current job (90k pa), but the key variable is ensuring that I’m actually working.

I’d love to do lots of overtime and weekend work before the cops to save. Is it possible? Or does it take months just to build up work?

Thanks.

I've tried removing and readding my Google account to Gnome. There's no warnings next to my account in Settings, and all the toggles are on. I've done various dnf install commands (which all show that Claude's desired packages are already installed), and Claude tells me:

"The key thing I can see is that gvfs-goa-volume-monitor is running, but Google Drive isn't showing up in gio mount -l at all — meaning GNOME Online Accounts isn't passing your Google account through to gvfs properly."

Does anyone have any suggestions, or is this simply a bug?

I knew I shouldn't have updated day 1 (lol)

Howdy, I just adopted Asahi and installed in on my MBP M1. I'm stoked so far.

Given that Apple seems resurgent lately with very little end in sight, are we seeing a grow in interest in Asahi too?
