Opinions on what to do about nexplanon bleeding?
So (23F)i’ve had my nexplanon implant in for about 3 years. I got it back in november of 2023. Since October of 2025 i have been bleeding pretty much non stop everyday. Recently it’s become unbearable soaking through multiple pads every hour to 2 hours. I’ve tried methods to slow or stop the flow like taking a consistent dose of ibuprofen but it would never work and would always come back heavy about a week or 2 later. I went to the gyno today (this was my first time meeting her) and she ran some tests to see if it could be anything else causing the heavy bleeding but she said if it’s truly the implant (which i’m 100% certain it is) to think about other methods. But the thing is, i don’t want to try other methods. I don’t like the idea of an iud or a disc, i know even with an alarm i’ll forget to take the pill, and i have to go back every 3 months for a shot like depo. For me as a busy college student the nexplanon is a no brainer. Just put it in and don’t think about it for 3-5 years! But i’m question is what do you think i should do? Should i just remove it and try something else? remove it all together and thug out my natural cycle? my gyno said she doesn’t think they can replace it with a new one since it’s been less than precisely 3 years. I’m not sexually active so it’s not like i have to worry about pregnancy at the moment. I just can’t stand my painful regular cycle periods nor can i stand having to constantly worry about birth control and staying safe when i do become sexually active again!
