I gave up on playing DQ4 DS because I felt like I was missing out on party chat
I’d just started chapter 5 of DQ4 on the DS and had met up with Meena and Maya from the previous chapter who I really liked, who when I talked to them had fun and intriguing dialogue that i really liked and wanted to hear more of. Only to remember I’m playing the version that has all the character dialogue stripped out of it for budget constraints :/
Before starting the game I knew a mobile port existed with the part chat brought back, but I really didn’t want to play with touch controls and I thought I’d be okay without party chat, I didn’t know how big of a feature it was. And I didn’t know at the time there was an English patch for the DS one either.
Now 11 hours in, I feel unsure if I want to go on, because I feel like I’m missing out on so much. And I don’t want to start my play through again so far in. I wish I could play the English patch and just start from chapter 5 so I wouldn’t lose all my progress.
Character dynamics and personalities are probably one of the most important aspects in a video game to me, as some of my favourite games are Mother 3, FF7 and Pokémon Mystery dungeon explorers of Sky which have a lot of that. Not sure if I want to commit myself to starting a new play through now, this was my first ever dragon quest game I’ve played
