Overcharged almost double the amount at Figs, and they are avoiding me. Don’t go to this restaurant
I was a tourist who visited Jackson Hole 2 weeks ago. I enjoyed the coffees, souvenir shops and nice scenery. However something unpleasant came up when I was checking my credit card bill at the end of the trip. The restaurant ‘Figs’ overcharged me $34, and is being incredibly rude and irresponsive. I’m calling them everyday and I’m struggling to get my money back. I would strongly advise that you read up on their Google reviews before deciding to go, rather, id suggest that you go elsewhere for dinner in Jackson.
Here is the rant:
My friend and I arrived in Jackson in the afternoon, we went to Figs to get some Lebanese food for dinner, we weren’t hungry so we ordered one hot and one cold appetizer to share for a small dinner. The total was $32 and with 18-ish%/ $6 tip, I rounded the sum to $40.24
A few days later my credit card got charged $74
On the first two days of my pursuit for my money back, I called 3 times, each time the host took down my information and said they’ll talk to their manager and give me a call back.
During one call, after I explained my overcharging situation to the host, they constantly says there’s nothing I can do I’m just a hostess… gurl why are you so helpless? I’m the helpless one…. They said it’s the 22% tip, and it’s not possible to check the receipts… and… she said our restaurant is so prestigious you can’t possibly eat here for $40. Extremely rude and unprofessional
On day 3, I got no call backs, I realized that I had been ghosted, so I called 3 times during different times of the day to try and asked directly for manager. They give me different excuses every time, she stepped away, she’s not in office, it’s outside of her work hours….
Finally I got the manager on the line, she first asked for my information all over again, I was so fed up with it, promised to check the system for my receipt and to call me back. I waited until the afternoon and obviously I got no response from them, so I had to chase after them again. Then she explained she has no access to the system, she needs bookkeeping to pull up my receipt, and there’s nothing else she can do…. A load of bs. Again, I was promised a call back the next day with updates. She was irritated by the end of our call and told me to not call again, and hung up on me before I finished. Whys she more frustrated than me?
I opened a credit card dispute.
Day 4, I was so tired and got no calls
Day 5, called twice, couldn’t get hold of the manager. She was in a meeting and they left early.
I had to use alternative intelligence at that point. I feel like my number and voice had been marked by them and their manager would magically disappear once I get on the phone. So I informed my friends, provided them with my evidence and tactics, and got them to call Figs for me.
Friend called later that day and they took down our info again.
Day 6, I sort of gave up, my friend called and finally got hold of their manager. They finally sent me a copy of the receipt AFTER my friend chased after them, so they were just going to leave me hanging…they sounded annoyed and they had to go through all the proper procedures to find a 2 week old receipt.
So they mistakenly took the sum as the tip, which resulted me in getting charged $34/almost double of my dinner.
They said they’ll issue a refund but I’ll certainly have to keep an eye on my bank account for that.
If you read on their Google map reviews, you’ll find others who has had similar experiences. Their waiter altered the tip amount, charged obligatory gratuity….and ofc you’ll find my review if you filter by ‘latest’
I’m extremely unsatisfied with their attitude, competence, math skills, and mediocre food. While I should be the frustrated customer who’s spent 6 days going after my rightful money, they got angry and irritated way within 2 phone calls.
If you don’t want to get overcharged, and get in a 6 day long battle for a copy of the receipt, pls avoid Figs located inside Hotel Jackson.
Sorry about the long rant, I’m rightfully upset at them. I enjoyed everything else about Jackson though! I just hope no one has to go through this again
