Cooked Gasket

I replaced everything on my equipment pad last April; new pump, sand filter, and plumbing. I added a flow meter/check valve just downline of the filter which goes directly into a chlorinator.

When I opened everything up this year, I noticed that the handle on the multiport valve was harder to turn. After a few backwashes, I also noticed some sand coming out of my backwash hose.

I pulled the top off the multiport valve and the gasket looked burnt.

I called the outfit that installed everything and they replaced the multiport under warranty.

I'm worried that something in my setup is letting the hyper-chlorinated water run back into the multiport.

Take a look and let me know what you think.
