Texas Children’s Medicaid while unemployed

I could use some help ensuring I’m eligible and have sent in all necessary documentation.

I have a son who is disabled, needs therapy sessions twice a week and medications. He’s not considered disabled-enough to permanently be on Medicaid, went through that, I’m hoping for income based Medicaid after being laid off.

I’ve been through this before and the application process is frustrating. It takes 45 days to review the application then they come back saying information is missing. The list of necessary documents is vague and it takes them so long to review that the information becomes out of date… then they respond with another ‘missing’ request. ;_;

Question: What income period are they looking at? I applied shortly after being laid off and they initially said our income is too high, I submitted the termination letter, then we went back and forth with missing info until the case was ultimately denied.

Documents sent:
- Driver’s licenses (both parents)
- Birth certificates (all family members)
- 2026 paychecks and termination/layoff letter
- Texas Workforce Commission unemployment Benefit Letter (there are no paycheck type documents I can find for them)
- Spouse’s paychecks with a cover letter summarizing totals as they do not work every pay period (please look at YTD totals, this part was hardest previously)
- Water Bill to verify address for adults
- Form signed by school to verify address for adults and children (same H115 form they sent last time as ‘missing’ - printed another copy for school to sign)

Anything missing?

I plan on submitting spouse’s paycheck stubs as they come in while waiting on review, so they will not flag those as ‘missing’ and employer has agreed to at least a quarter hour of work time every pay period to prevent missing paycheck stubs.
