I built a shot-planning system after one too many "forgot the B-roll" edits
Solo creator here. I kept finishing shoots and realizing in the edit that I was missing an establishing shot, enough B-roll, or a clean transition — so I'd either reshoot or patch it together badly.
I ended up building myself a small planning system that connects the whole flow: what I'm shooting and why, the actual shot list with priorities, B-roll I need to grab, and — the part that actually fixed the problem — mapping the rough edit (hook/context/core/payoff) before I press record. It also has a tab for turning one shoot into multiple pieces (main video, shorts, carousel) instead of figuring that out after the fact.
Curious if others here plan this far ahead or just wing it with a basic shot list? Happy to share what I put together if it's useful to anyone.
