Is this petrified tree root?
Found in Cattaraugus County, New York, hiking near Allegany State Park. Exposed cross section looks nearly porous, or like fine sand sediment.

Please help me grade my standing Liberty quarter.
Most of these I've seen or own are heavily worn, Liberty is basically a flat silhouette. As a young collector, this type was scandalously intriguing. I'm a proud owner of this beautifully-detailed classic!
