How to hardwire a DDPAI dashcam, full breakdown & easy installation guide
We get this question a lot, here’s a quick and safe way to hardwire your DDPAI dashcam:
Why hardwire?
Lighter socket only powers the cam while driving. Hardwiring means parking mode works and no cables hanging around your dashboard.
What you need
Hardwire kit, fuse tap, trim removal tool. That's it.
Step 1 Find your fuse box
Usually under the dashboard, driver's side. Check your manual if unsure.
Step 2 Find the right fuses
You need two. ACC fuse, has power only when ignition is on, check your radio or wiper fuse. Constant fuse, stays live even when car is off, check clock or interior light fuse. A cheap fuse tester confirms which is which in seconds.
Step 3 Connect
Red → constant fuse, Yellow → ACC fuse, Black → metal bolt near fuse box for ground. Use fuse taps, don't cut any existing wires.
Step 4 Route the cable
Tuck along the windshield edge, down the A-pillar, into the fuse box. Stay away from anything with a yellow airbag label.
Step 5 Test
Ignition on = dashcam on. Ignition off = parking mode. If parking mode isn't working, check your constant fuse connection first.
One important tip
Use a hardwire kit with voltage protection so your dashcam cuts off before it drains your battery.
