I’ve been looking at a position as a Deckhand with VanEnkevort Tug & Barge and was hoping to hear from any current or former employees who can share their experiences with the company.

I’ve spent a lot of time on boats growing up, although never in a work-related capacity. I understand that tug and barge work isn’t easy, but I’ve been doing physically demanding jobs for years, so I’m not too concerned about the physical side of things.

I’m more curious about what life is actually like working for VanEnkevort, particularly the 28/14 rotations, crew quarters, crew morale, winter operations, management, and overall quality of life aboard the vessels.

I’d appreciate any honest insight, good or bad, thank you!
