Our lates episode! Thin Man: Case of the Goofy Groom 💍🔎

Hello Old Time Radio,

Our next Code Bear Audio Dramas is here! I wanted to come back with our newest episode: The Thin Man: Case of the Goofy Groom.

We’ve been having a lot of fun bringing these old radio scripts back to life with our local cast, and this time we’re returning to Nick and Nora Charles for another mystery, complete with a wedding, a goofy groom, suspicious circumstances, and plenty of Nick and Nora banter.

We also had a little extra fun with this one and recreated one of the original radio advertisements from the broadcast! We’ve been trying to preserve some of the charm of listening to an old-time radio show while still making these recordings our own, and recreating the ad felt like a fun way to lean into that experience.

Everything is performed by our wonderful cast, recording together as an ensemble, which has been one of my favorite parts of making the series. Hearing everyone develop different characters, play off each other, and figure out how to tell the entire story through sound has been such a great experiment.

If you enjoy old-time radio, audio mysteries, or Nick and Nora getting themselves wrapped up in increasingly ridiculous situations, I’d love for you to give it a listen. And since we’re still growing the series, let us know what you would like to hear!

Starting out with a classic, Lucille Fletcher’s The Hitch-Hiker! Our first audio drama is out now 🎙️

Hi r/audiodrama,

I’m Claire, the founder of Code Bear Media, and I wanted to share the first episode of our new series, Code Bear Audio Dramas!

We’re kicking things off with The Hitch-Hiker, Lucille Fletcher’s classic radio thriller about a man driving across the country who keeps encountering the same mysterious hitchhiker, hundreds of miles apart. The farther he drives, the harder it becomes to explain what he’s seeing.

Our goal with this series is to bring the magic of radio theater to new listeners through fresh performances, immersive sound, and stories that leave plenty of room for your imagination.

We recorded the show in Roseville, California, with an incredible group of actors from Imagine That Repertory, under the direction of Patricia Keeling-Haines. It’s been a really fun collaborative project, and we have more mysteries, thrillers, and comedies on the way.

I’d love to hear what you think of our first production, especially the performances and sound design. And if you’re a fan of classic radio drama, I’d love to know which stories you’d like to hear brought back to life!
