Brand new to SX-70R -- exposure help needed!

Hi all, I recently got my Black Magic SX-70R back from the Doctor, and I am having difficulty getting consistent accurate exposure. When I run it full auto, it can be OK but the highlights tend to be blown out. I'd call these photos generally overexposed. When I use the app to meter the scene and then set the shutter speed manually, it's far worse, even when I think I'm reducing the shutter speed by multiple stops.

Clearly I'm missing something really basic here. And yes, I am setting the device type to SX-70.

edit: i am using recent itype film

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
