Anyone ever go fishing with Good Karma Charters out of Tavernier? What’s hitting good in late July?

Hello, everyone. I’m very excited to be bringing my family from CO out to the Keys for a vacation in late July. When I was a kid, I’d come out every year to spend a week on a sailboat in the Marathon area but I haven’t been back in 30 years.

We’re staying in Tavernier and looking to book a day of fishing with Good Karma Sportfishing and Captain Ryan. Does anyone have any experience with this business? My daughters are 11 & 14 but have gone out on 3 Alaska halibut charters, and even reeled in a 78-pounder that they wouldn’t let me help out on 😆. Also, I’ve only ever been to the Keys in the winter, so what should I expect for late July fishing? I’m looking for good eating fish to take home, not targeting any specific “sport” species or trophy. Are there also any good places to rent gear for shore or pier fishing?

I will be searching the FAQ section of this subreddit, but if you feel like throwing in some of your family favorite beaches, things to do, restaurants, breweries, etc. near Tavernier, I’d appreciate it. Thank you!

If you play a full 9 holes without losing your ball, do you toss it?

The local muni I play for my league doesn’t have very many hazards to lose your ball in, so most of the time I don’t even need another. Do you have a “hole count” of when you’ll toss a ball, or just play it until it’s lost or damaged? I’m about a 12 handicap.

EDIT: Okay, all. It has been noted there’s no need to discard a ball that’s been used for a while 😆. I haven’t been freakish about my balls since I used to be on the high school team and we were playing balatas. I just know some guys that ARE ball freaks and was curious if it’s noticeable. Thanks for some laughs 👍

Well, this isn’t good. Fire east of Long’s Peak - west of Loveland/Longmont? Wasn’t there an hour ago.

I’ve noticed a big explosion of mice around my chicken run this spring, but needed something that would be safe around chickens, pets and kids. So I made a bucket trap that I saw on here a while back and it worked like a charm. 14 mice in the first night! Can’t remember who posted it, but thank you! Took only about 15 minutes to make with just a piece of rebar and PVC.

Basically the title. I’m having a hard time justifying the price of Pro V1 but it’s all I’ve used in about 10 years. I have a very fast swing speed, hardly ever lose a ball, good putter, ok iron player, shitty chipper. Will I really notice any difference? I feel like my money might be better spent on a short game lesson. Thanks for the input.
