I got P102-100 which is a mining card, similar to GT1080ti and it works great for my project, but problem is that I am not able to control the fan speed so the fan is always running at 77% making a lot of noise.
I am able to change the speed using nvidia-settings but the actual speed did not change.
How do I spin down fan on this card?
I am on Ubuntu 26.04 and the card is Zotac.
I have several battery banks built out of batteryhookup.com cells, mostly 14s10p configuration. Being paranoid, I am thinking of building a shed for storing batteries and lawnmower. It will be a small kit shed, e.g. 4x8 made out of sheet metal.
Few questions:
Does it make sense
Any concerns with keeping batteries outside with temp range -10C to 40C.
Looks like the best place for the shed is about 4ft from house. Will it still be effective in terms of containing fire, or I should move it further somehow?
I flip between Arch and Ubuntu for the past 5 years. Last straw pushing me from Arch to Ubuntu was upgrade of CUDA stack of Arch which made AI components of PixInsight unusable. On top of it, Davinci Resolve kept breaking with Arch updates.
So exactly one week ago, downloaded Kubuntu 26.04 and installed it. So far very smooth sailing - PixInsight, llama.cpp, Claude code and Davinci Resolve just work. On top of it, to my surprise, bundled Hyperland is not too old, so it is my current desktop right now. As a bonus, I should not be impacted by hyperland migration to Lua configurations for now.
Hopefully will stay on buntu for a while, until it gets too boring, 😆
