American Toad?
I live in Toronto and have a linered pond where American toads used to habitat and return every year. One year, a bunch of my Koi fish died and I drained the pond to clean it out. Not thinking, it was during the week the toads returned and left them without water protection. As a result, the racoons came and ate all the toads. I was devistated. I still have a sinking feeling in my stomach every time I think about it, knowing I was responsible for wiping out a group of happy toads that I got used to seeing, and tracked their return every year. I loved to hear their calling at night..sigh.
I'd love to reintroduce them into my pond and I know they would be happy there as they kept returning for 10+ years.
Does anyone have any toads eggs or know where I can find eggs, tadpoles or toads? My backyard backs onto the Don Valley ravine in Toronto so it's a natural habitat for them.
