I was looking at a list of inverse tropes (the opposite of popular tropes) and this one in particular caught my eye.
I've never been a fan of hes mean to everyone but her because that just comes off as a red flag, and unlike other red flags, it doesnt come off as hot.
But the inverse, hes nice to everyone but her sounds like it make a great plot for a book. Essentially I want a guy that is super nice to people, not a pushover, but someone who is always willing to lend a helping hand, and hes well known for being the nicest guy around. Until it comes to her. He actively avoids her, side eyes her, ignores her. And she cant figure out why this guy seems to hate her so much especially when hes considered to be this super kind person. I do want the mmc to have a genuine reason for not like her. Maybe he overheard her say something that was rude, or maybe she did something that had negative consequences for him. It just has to be a good understandable reason.
