I’m a former WHV holder and currently on a Bridging Visa A (partner visa in progress). During my WHV, I worked as a meat process worker to meet the extension requirements, and I’ve continued in that role since (I am based in Melbourne now)
Before coming to Australia, I have:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Singapore
3 years experience as an auditor in a Big 4 firm
3 years experience as an accountant at a major e-commerce company in Southeast Asia
The issue is I now have a ~3 year gap from office/accounting roles.
I’m trying to understand:
How the Australian market views overseas Big 4 experience after a gap
Whether I should aim for entry-level roles or try for intermediate positions
If starting CPA/CA would significantly improve my chances
Any practical steps to re-enter (recruiters, temp roles, etc.)
Would really appreciate any insight from those in the industry here.
