In the kitchen
I noticed there are oodles of pictures and postings focused on the growth aspect mostly.
So, I figured someone may be interested in some of the "back of the kitchen" details.
I've just performed a "culling" on my Blue Dreams and Lamb's Bread. Which is removing the "underachievers". Any branch not developing any real potential, branches that haven't made it to the top of the balcony with the others ... they're taking up elbow rooms and resources, so they get returned to their mama.
I perform this routine on average 2 times a week. But now, they're teenagers and their hormones are raging, so I'm doing this every other day during their first big stretch.
I believe that the open spaces under the canopies helps facilitate optimum air/gas exchange. Note the buckets in the background.
Those buckets are my "fermentation tanks".
I'll go into more details in another post, but basically they're fermenting fruits, leftover veggies, and yard scraps (full details soon).
So, they're performing double duty.
They are constantly generating CO2 and every weekend I drench the soil with the organic smoothie from the tanks.
Yes, it's possibly one of the reasons why my girls look like they do.
But watch for a lengthy post coming with the title
" Low Budget Maximum Effort"😉
