I’m currently a first-year doing a BA majoring in English, but I’ve realised that just because I’m passionate about it doesn’t necessarily mean I’m good at it.

I’m considering an internal transfer into something more science-based, since I think that’s where I tend to perform better. My main concern is how this might affect my WAM. It’s not great so far, and I don’t want to make it worse.

Could someone explain how internal transfers actually work (especially in terms of WAM and credits)? And if you’ve made a similar switch, how did it go?

I’m currently a first-year student and thinking about studying abroad in my third year. I’ve heard people say that I should “save my electives,” but I’m not really sure what that means or how to actually do it.

Could someone explain what this involves and how to plan for it properly?

Also, I’d really appreciate any general advice or tips about studying abroad. Anything you wish you knew before going.

Thanks.

My first semester has been really rough. I haven’t been able to adjust to the workload at all, and it’s been a huge culture shock. On top of that, I’ve been dealing with some personal stuff (but that's its own monster).

Overall, my grades so far haven’t been great. I’m mostly getting passes or low credits, I’ve already failed two assessments, and I ended up dropping a class.

I do want to pursue Honours, so I know I need to improve. Is my WAM already beyond saving, or can I recover it if I really lock in from now on and over the next few years?
