for those of you that were on the fence about having a "big" wedding / decided to elope/ do something less traditional/ or went through with the wedding- what swayed you in one direction or another?

my main hangups on a wedding is 1) ive never been one to celebrate myself and feel guilty doing so and 2) guilt around the money my parents are very generously giving us for the wedding & know there will be concessions at every turn (they can afford it/ not going into debt for it but the idea that we spend so much on a day that may stress me out just makes me feel icky). 3) what if its waste?

we are lucky and blessed to have a large social circle who is very important to us and my fiance has a larger family (~50 people) so doing something "smaller/ backyard-esq" just doesn't feel doable for us? our current guest count is north of 150.

for those that opted for something less traditional- what did you do and do you have any regrets?
