Urgent Advice: Top Tier Installer skipping Earthing Boring on 8kW System
Hi everyone, seeking urgent advice on my new installation in Karachi.
I went with a reputable, AEDB-approved company for my 8kW Hybrid system (Solis Inverter + Sunwoda Battery), paying Rs. 1.30 Million for a professional setup.
My invoice explicitly includes "Earthing Cable," "AC SPD," and "Commissioning," with the company handling the Net Metering filing.
The Issue:
The system is now live, but the installer is refusing to do the actual boring (ground pit). They claim that since the word "boring" wasn't written verbatim on the invoice, they only have to provide the cable. They are now demanding an extra Rs. 38k to actually dig the pit.
My questions for the community:
Safety: Isn't the AC SPD I paid for completely useless if that cable isn't actually grounded into a proper boring?
Net Metering: Since this is a big approved company, shouldn't they know that K-Electric will reject the green meter during the survey without a tested earth pit? Although I wont do net metering.
Warranty: Will my Solis/Sunwoda warranty be voided if a surge hits because the installation is technically incomplete?
Is it safe? As we go on roof alot including kids.
I expected better standards from an approved company. They say I’ll be "fine" with just the cable, but it feels like a major safety shortcut. Should I stand my ground, or is it common for companies to charge extra for the boring after the fact?
