The last two drivers just don't work for me (6950 XT)

My experience with AMD drivers has only been positive up till 26.3.1, which caused weird hangs and a crash.

I reverted drivers and waited for a new one, today I tried 26.5.1 thinking surely it's fixed, right? Same thing, weird hangs (audio cuts out) and then a glitchy blue screen mid game, which got me a penalty. Another revert it is.

How do you even report stuff like this? I don't get a bug report window when the drivers straight up crash my system.

I sure feel like the "maintenance mode" for the older cards got cancelled in name only.

Do you guys still have faith in the AMD ecosystem?

To start off I am quite happy with my 6950 XT for what I currently need it for, but I've been looking at some upgrades for 4K.

The most tempting option is a used 7900 XTX which would be a massive value upgrade, but it just doesn't give me much of anything new in terms of software. It's pretty much driving me to look at the generationally software locked, VRAM skimmed nvidia xx80 cards just cause DLSS has matured so much better than FSR.

I don't think AMD is realizing how significant it is to keep people in the ecosystem. Even if I don't go for a 7900 XTX or a 9070 XT, how they support these cards, FSR and ROCm will be a big decision maker for how people look at RDNA 5 and so on.

I'd specifically like to hear opinions from people who own mid-range RX 6000/7000 cards, did you expect your card to age better? What upgrades would you look at right now?
