I've been learning for a few months now, I'm 28 and have never wanted to drive in the past, I've been pretty content using public transport and getting lifts from friends and family. However this year I decided to finally do it, I took a theory test 3 years ago which has now expired and have another booked in so no practical test date in sight yet. I have had about roughly 20 hours maybe a little more.

I usually struggle with situational anxiety in social settings, at work and in this case with driving lessons. My anxiety manifests very physically, heart racing incredibly shaky legs and as soon as it begins it's a never ending cycle because it's so visible I fixate on it and I become worse. With my driving lessons I started off really quite well on my 3rd lesson we took a turn off course due to road works and I ended up having to drive myself home, I was doing roundabouts level crossings some slower countryside roads and going on dual carriageways from this point. I really felt like I was diving right into it and I was really enjoying then by my 4th or 5th lesson I would spend all week thinking about my lesson and when it got to the date of and I get in the car I immediately start to shake. It's really pulling me out of my learning and it got to the point where last week I got so anxious me and my driving instructor decided to call the lesson early. I spoke to my doctor and have been prescribed propanolol 10mg.

I just wanted to know if there is anything I should be doing before I take this, I've read about taking it beforehand so you know how you'll react.

Then just in general if anyone has had any similar experiences to me with their learning, I felt like I started really strong and if anything I'm taking big steps back with each lesson! I don't even have a test date so it's not as if I'm focusing on that...
