I currently rent a house for the last 6 years. I gave landlord 7 months’ notice of moving. In the second month of the notice landlord listed home for sale. It has major structural and plumbing issues. It has been shown over 70 times. It had three contracts fall through after inspection. I have maintained the home immaculately for showings to the point that my vacuum has stopped working. I have altered my schedule to accommodate showings, repairs and inspections. Hundreds of people have been in my rental home since February. Realtors and their clients are blatantly disrespecting my home by bringing children who tend to be interested in my sewing room, not wearing shoe covers (I have signage stating NO BARE FEET), leaving lights on, cabinet and closet doors open (and a crawl space hatch left open which is located on the floor of my closet that I almost stepped into). They also have assumed my bathroom was for public use. Again, I have signs stating to turn off lights, close doors and no bare feet. I need to put a sign stating not a public bathroom up. Bottles of water are also left on furniture. Since I’m not working I’m here almost all the time and I even verbally ask the people to obey the signs. I stay in my sewing area while they look and there’s only been one time that everything was put back and turned off. Last week I was at my other home in Wisconsin and I told the agent and my landlord that I wasn’t comfortable having people in my home while I was away because of the previously mentioned issues unless they were accompanied by the agent or the landlord. While I was gone the realtor called and informed me she was giving access to a potential buyer (who is also a realtor)and that they would make sure to follow instructions. I should mention I have a very bright light in my bedroom I use for hair and makeup. It gets extremely warm and I leave it on when attended. I should have unplugged it before I left but since I thought buyers would be accompanied by the agent or landlord. I was caught off guard but let her know I am uncomfortable. When I looked at my camera, I saw the couple arrive. The immediately turned on the porch light. I don’t have inside cameras by the way. When I saw them again upon leaving, they didn’t turn off the porch light. I saw the recording about an hour after the people left. I texted the listing agent that I was very concerned about the light being left on outside, because how do I know the didn’t forget anything else? I requested someone return and double check. I was refused. One agent/buyer left my back sliding glass door unlocked. I’m at my limit. The only other restrictions I have made are no showings before 9 and no showings after 4pm on weekdays but there have been many exceptions made. And I only did the restrictions because I was getting showings sometimes as late as 8:30 pm. Again, I’m at my limit but I don’t know what recourse I have
