THE POWER TO CONTROL MIND IS DISCIPLINE.

THE POWER TO CONTROL MIND IS DISCIPLINE.

Yes, Studying is also boring and hard for me. To constantly focus on certain pages and have that same level of effective study focus becomes difficult as time passes. The following are some findings and discussions i wanted to share, you can share yours as well:

  1. I think it's the distractions that we are surrounded with that has caused all the difference. The students studying in these Ramakrishna Mission institutes do not have such problems like us (most of them excel in whatever exams they prepare for, as in these institutes they teach the young kids - "How to study", rather than "what to study") and most of them can study very well even in their late 40s.

  2. It's the distractions we choose in our daily lives that has ruined our focus and attention ability. Of course for any subject or field, in order to be excellent we have to devote time and on top of that, the time devoted is useful only if we are present in that moment with our mind and body together, which in my case is not happening most of the times.

Therefore, I am always trying to configure new ways of making my mind sit and focus because due to these distractions, it has become a monkey.

  1. I also believe it is very important nowadays to choose the device/content/ people/place we want to spend time with during our breaks and weekends if we are students preparing for exams.

>The more dopamine rich distraction we use, the harder it would be to get back into our routine.

I have also seem to notice this difference in my body as well. The more dopamine rich distractions I consume like - Porn, reels, Movies, series, games, etc.(reels being the most destructive), I realize my body also gets effected and my diet changes. I get more cravings for junk/packaged/street/processed food rather than cooked regular meals. AND YES FOOD INTAKE DOES CHANGE MY PERFORMANCE IN STUDIES. - The more junkier the food, lesser the energy in my body, more boring and hard it would be for me to study.

In his videos, Swami Sarvapriyananda beautifully describes the reasons for current students to focus lesser and how to tackle them.

SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES AND IMPROVEMENTS TOO.

I have gotten into a "No study Zone".
Somehow, I do not feel the urgency or pressure that I used to feel when I was in class X or XII. At that time there were phones and games too, yet I did not need reasons to study.
But soon after college, when I finally sat down to study on my own again, I LOST to myself and my habits.
Procrastination, mobile, dopamine, etc., etc., shit. All happened at once.
For the past 1 year, I have not been able to achieve the level of focus I had 4 yrs ago.
I tried to change my external environment, stayed at home as well as in a PG far away from home, but I STILL AM THE SAME.

And the more I inquire within me why it is happening, the answer is always ME, just ME.

So to the fellow students who are able to achieve their targets and to the ppl who have achieved their academic destination. How did you do it?

  1. Were studies boring to you, too? And if yes, how did you still sit for hours without being distracted?

  2. Is studying alone all by yourself good or bad? ...for me, since I cannot handle myself, maybe I need a grp, should I join a coaching or smthng?

  3. WERE YOU IN MY PLACE, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
