Sorry if this is a repeated question. I'm a complete camera noob and I've been a long time lurker of this subreddit and finally decided to get my first camera.

The a6400 fits well in my budget and I can get it new for $815 with a 16-50mm kit lens. Just the body comes out to be $765. (I did check other sites for used and they're not much cheaper). Basically my question is if it's worth it getting the camera with the kit lens and if it's a decent starter camera.

I'll be going on a trip soon and mostly use it for my graduation photos and daylight photos of family and landscapes. I've checked a few of the lens suggestions from other posts and they seem a lot more expensive and I'm on a pretty tight budget which is why I'm a bit confused.

Should I be considering other models or brands for the lenses or maybe get a a6100 with a better lens?

Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

PS any suggestions for additional accessories to get would also be super helpful.

Budget: $1000

Country: USA

Condition: Fine with used but would prefer new since I don't knwo how to verify it's condition before purchase

Type of Camera: Prefer Mirrorless but open to DSLR

Intended use: Photography mostly maybe some video

End use: Social media

If photography: landscape and street photos

If video what style: vlogging

What features do you absolutely need: not sure

What features would be nice to have:

Portability: How portable does it need to be? shoulder strap

Cameras you're considering: sony a6400, a6100, a6600

Cameras you already have: Canon Powershot

Notes: I'm a complete beginner hoping to get something versatile for photography that does fairly decent in most settings
