“Why Did a Bank Staff Member Ask Me to Deposit Money for Them?”

“I was going to the gym, and there’s a bank downstairs. A person outside the bank asked me to deposit some money for her. I asked why she couldn’t do it herself. She said bank staff are not allowed to deposit it and showed me her ID card. I wasn’t asked to sign anything or give any extra details. Nothing else happened afterward, but now I’m wondering why staff wouldn’t be allowed to deposit money themselves. Is this a real rule?”
