Oska label.

Brighton ( UK ) had a secret. OSKA, the avant-garde chaotic low-fi noise label run by Jod Russell. I heard about them from a guy in Manchester and wrote a letter. A catalogue was sent and I ordered some cassettes. I was head-over-heels with Jods tapes, so much so I sent one to John, it was important he had one. Later, Jod was kind enough to play guitar on our second M-Ways release 'Slippery Trip Hazard'. As time passed I got more and more involved in the Inland Empire and drifted away from Oska into a world of California and personal poverty. Returning one day to check on Jod I was shocked and surprised he had released a Mountain Goats tape ( Yam. ) Did John belong on that label?.. With Merzbow and Neil Campbell? Jods label was perfection, the Mountain Goats with the Panasonic were perfection. Low-fi Sonic Antipodes .... it really happened.

I'm giving this tape away its OSKA 66 NEIL CAMPBELL. Back next Saturday .... as rare as a dwalfs jumper.

On December 3rd 1994 John Peel played Pianist from the Witchknot 7". I immediately wrote to them and they sent me their demo. Inside the package was a witchknot made from hair and twigs and things from a hedge or something. It really freaked me out, i had to go to the library to discover if they wanted me dead. I sent a blank tape and asked what their influences were and i got a nice mix tape back of riot grrl bands. I bought the zines, wrote to the riot grrrls and supported them the best I could. I'd like to think all the Mountain Goat women are riot grrrls, feminist and librarians and would like this tape. Lianne Hall went on to record great folk music. As John climbed up his ladder so did Lianne, parallel, an ocean apart. Give Lianne some support, she has a dozen albums out and on utube you can watch John Peel visit her. My favourite song of hers is 'You Dancing' I am Rik Albatros and I'm giving tapes away I'm taking over the room so in two weeks I'll be back to give this tape away to a new home.

I've never told my story about tape world. These will find a new home and we all get to hear a story. People will love the stories. They might win a cassette and treasure it or if times are hard they can sell them to collectors for new haircuts and socks.

Here's a nice CD. Has that cool song All Devils Here Now. A very high quality recording from the soundboard. Has one of my all time favourite songs Neon Orange Glimmer Song. A song only I seem to give the love to and made it my own. We could find a new home for this CD soon.
