Scented Geraniums Mealy Cure
Anyone else notice this?
So the dreaded mealybug….
I once cured my whole green room of them by cleaning not only the plants but disinfecting the entire room: walls, floors, pots…. Everything. Worked so well that I had no more mealybugs !! For years!!!
Until I brought home that one plant. Well by now I just had so many plants that that sort of undertaking seemed too much… sigh. So I just kept trying to keep the numbers down.
But then I had gotten all these scented geraniums that no one wanted. They flower all the time. Anyway, I realized that the Hoyas near them started having fewer and fewer mealybugs. Hmmm… so I moved more of them closer and to my shock they too soon had no mealybugs unlike the ones further away or in other rooms… could this be possible?! So I took another infected Hoya , gently cleaned it and placed it smack in the middle of my scented geraniums and yep! The mealybugs disappeared!!!
I decided to google it and found one person that too had noticed the same thing and was wondering if anyone else had discovered this.
So… scented geraniums are our new best friends.
