I've been hunting the sub for advice on this and haven't been able to find anything concrete.

So, my recert is due on the 30th. If I don't recert, nelnet says that my payment will go up to $300. If I do recert, it appears my new ibr payment will be $300. If I go on the standard plan, apparently it's going to be like $3k which i absolutely cannot do. That's all according to what pops up when I started filling out my recertification info.

Any reason for me not to just skip the recert and take the non-ibr $300 payment? It'd be nice not to have to think about doing the recert every year, but I want to make sure there's not a downside I'm missing other than if my income drastically decreases.
