Feeling really low - pls help
Hey everyone,
I’m a 30F who had an ACL reconstruction in 2024. Recovery went really well, and I returned to sport without any major issues.
About 5 months ago, I started getting a sharp stabbing pain in my knee. Initially, my physio thought it might be a ligament strain, so I continued training and hoped it would settle down. Unfortunately, the pain persisted, and after further investigation I was diagnosed with a radial meniscus tear.
Since then, I’ve had a corticosteroid injection, which helped reduce the inflammation. I’ve also continued strength training and have been gradually increasing my weights each week. However, I’d estimate I’m only at about 30% of the strength and function I had before this injury.
I’ve seen a sports physician who recommends surgery rather than PRP, but I’m feeling really stuck about what to do. I miss sport enormously, and to be honest this whole situation has hit me pretty hard mentally. Having already gone through ACL rehab, the thought of another surgery and another long recovery is difficult to accept.
For anyone who has had a radial meniscus tear, particularly after a previous ACL reconstruction:
Did you choose surgery or conservative management?
If you had surgery, was it a repair or a meniscectomy?
How was your recovery and were you able to return to sport?
Do you have any regrets about the path you chose?
