i’m in the military so my sleep schedule is pretty strange with 8 hour 4 am watches almost every other day. However even on my off weeks i notice ill stay up until 5am when i have to go to work at 6 leaving me exhausted. I would nap during lunch to help but even when i dont nap i still find it hard to fall asleep even while being exhausted.
first i tried not using my phone for 2 hours before bed but that just left me staring at the ceiling at 3am, same for not eating or drinking anything other than water past 6pm
i’ve tried melatonin and i would do on and of days/weeks to not keep a dependency but after a month i can take 15mg and still not knock out.
I limit my caffeine intake, i barely drink energy drinks and coffee even while tired
trying nyquill just left me drowsy the whole day and felt unmotivating
i’m pretty active i hit a lift and run almost everyday, so i don’t know what more i can do to make my body want to sleep more.
one thing i do is that i vape, but i’ve been vaping for 2 years and it has never affected my sleep. would stopping now actually fix it?
I’ve been struggling with this for about 2 months, i haven’t gone to see our bases behavioral health because im about to PCS and i dont want to be on medical hold. Any tips to naturally sleep better or other natural methods to try.
