My bloodwork and symptoms show early insulin resistance. I’m trying to correct constant fatigue and weight loss resistance. All of this seemed to be triggered by pre-eclampsia several years ago. I do all of the right things with diet and exercise.
I have found success with keto, losing weight and feeling better, but that plateaued after about 6 months. I continued for another year, but haven’t been able to recreate the initial success since those first ever 6 months.
I tried both semaglutide and tirzepatide a couple of years ago with no success. They definitely killed my appetite, but it made me have almost coma-like fatigue and I lost absolutely no weight. I was on each med for a few months and had titrated up to the highest dose. In fact, I think it made me worse off because it absolutely killed my work out routine which took a long time to recover.
My doc just wrote a Rx for me for Metformin.
Should I try Metformin? Is there any hope of that helping me? Shouldn’t GLP-1s help if I have insulin resistance? Are there ever cases where Metformin helped when GLP-1s didn’t?
Thanks for your help, I’m just so tired of feeling like crap all the time, especially with all the hard work I put into it.
