Recovering overpaid tax after switched to weekly basis from cumulative
Hello,
A friend of mine got made redundant last January, He received his last payment from his company (made of the severance package) on February 27th. He has been receiving the jobseeker pay-related benefit from 1st February.
He noticed that Revenue switched his tax credit Week 1 basis from the Cumulative basis and as a result his rate band 1 was decreased from 44000 to 20600. The consequence is that most of his severance package was paid 40% (the PILO and his holidays).
The question is when will be received that extra tax paid as a result of this switch? Has anyone been here before? He is still unemployed at the moment.
