Taiwan Travelogue just won the International Booker - anyone read it?

I heard it features a love story between two women. The synopsis sounds really interesting and I do plan on picking it up when it becomes available near me. Has anyone read it yet, and any thoughts??

Thoughts on Boulder by Eva Baltasar?

I read this one beginning of this year but was curious as to hear some thoughts on it for anyone who has read it!

Initially, went into this thinking I was going to love it - loved the premise of going along with something you don't want (motherhood/having a child) out of love and the self-destruction it brings all within a queer relationship. I'd only heard good things about it, and people who loved The Safekeep (my goat book) were loving this.

I did read it within a day, but I can't say I liked it. This is not to say I dont think the writing was good and at times very beautiful and evocative! There was just a lot of use of simile and metaphor and I kinda got exhausted by it after a while. I also found the narrator to be very unpleasant which I was surprised as I usually do well with "unlikeable" characters.

That being said, I definitely think I was in the wrong mood for this. It has a very pessimistic and depressing energy, and wasn't completely able to match it. I do think also some of the lyricism/rhythm of the writing I may have missed or not fully appreciated. I haven't managed to mesh with novels written by poets before, so it is likely a case of just wasn't for me.

But for those who loved it, those who hated it, or in between: I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!

What are the ethics of sharing that a trad published author may have written fanfiction before?

Hello all, I'm not a frequent user of this sub so apologies if I'm posting this question to the wrong place.

For context, I read a trad published book recently that I absolutely loved, and as you do I went scouring social media to see what people were saying about it. I ended up finding a post on twitter from someone discussing how a favourite fanfiction author of theirs had retired from writing fanfiction as they were going to be publishing a novel, and had since found the novel: which was the book I loved.

I was skeptical at first, but read some of the fanfiction and I'm 99% sure it's the same writer (due to a couple of factors). Obviously in this case that is not definitive proof that they are the same person, especially as what I'm currently aware of the author has not spoken about writing fanfiction before.

This brings me to my current question: is it ok to possibly share to others or post this information? My heart wants to share it because I think they are a really great author and the fanfiction was great too, however I am hesitant because it does feel like a breach of privacy (it feels like outing someone possibly).

I'd love to hear thoughts on this, for now I think the best course of action is to keep it to myself, but let me know.
