Help me understand Cleric relation with Deities
So the 5.5e Player's Handbook only dishes out the Subclasses at level 3, but there is general Channel Divinity perks at level 2.
However, the Domains description goes something like "you commune with your Deity and take upon arms of their Domains", but then, it never mentions Gods or any limitation. So they mean to say a Cleric of Pelor could be a Death Domain? Its kind of odd.
Then again, there is NO mention of Deities or any list of the deities ANYWHERE in the 5.5e core books. Every now and then there is one thing, like an item called "Beads of Io" or something in DM Guide, but thats it.
I came from Dnd 3.5 and 4e, and remember vividly that you picked a God and was very strict about what Tendency it needed to be or what spells you had access based on the Deity itself, but now it seems that it has no relations outside of role-playing. Am I just lost or just missing something?
